Now in its fifth year, Nuit Blanche Saskatoon is a free, night-time arts festival that showcases and celebrates art and culture. Overtaking multiple venues and city streets throughout Saskatoon, the festival will feature projections, sculptural installations, performance, music, theatre, and other forms of contemporary art that will wow festival-goers late into the evening. Not only is this festival a chance for citizens of all ages to engage with and enjoy Saskatoon’s thriving arts scene, it offers the unique experience of exploring Saskatoon's public spaces late into the night in a safe and fun environment.
Nuit Blanche Saskatoon is currently seeking submissions for our 2018 festival. We encourage projects that incorporate the use of spectacle and light, and that interact with public spaces and Saskatoon’s urban landscape, creating opportunities for viewers to see our city differently and to explore areas they may not have entered before. We are committed to emerging practices that promote dialogue in our culturally diverse communities.
We are open to submissions that propose locations throughout Saskatoon’s Broadway, Downtown, and Riversdale neighbourhoods. While we encourage applicants to suggest a specific site for their work and to consider how their project would function within this space, if a proposal is approved the final location will be determined in conversation with our Programming Committee. We are also open to submissions that leave placement to the discretion of the Programming Committee.
We do not plan to close city streets for Nuit Blanche Saskatoon projects. Rather, we encourage projects that can be located in parks, alleyways, parking lots, or within Saskatoon businesses, making use of their storefronts or buildings (indoors or outdoors).
Our standard project fee is $750, inclusive of materials. While artists are welcome to propose more ambitious projects that require a higher budget, please note that as we can fund a limited number of projects at these higher levels, the adjudication process will be more competitive.
Only email submissions will be accepted. In a single pdf, please include:
Please attach or provide links to up to 10 jpgs of your work (no larger than 1MB per image) or up to 10 minutes of time-based work (.mov, .mp4, .avi or link to Youtube, Vimeo or SoundCloud). If you are providing links, please embed these within your pdf.
Do not insert any pertinent details in the body of your email, as emails will not be considered during adjudication.
All submissions must be received by 11:59 PM on Monday, April 2nd, 2018.
