Nuit Blanche Saskatoon is an annual, night-time festival that brings art to public spaces providing a free, all-ages, and accessible venue to experience contemporary art. The festival celebrates our local arts and culture with Saskatchewan artists serving as the festival’s feature contributors. To complement these local artists, the festival curates key visiting artists who offer new artistic practices and approaches, continuing to build and strengthen Saskatchewan’s artistic community.

We invite qualified Curators specializing in art installations and festivals to submit their application to develop the artistic program for our 2020 festival, which will take place Saturday, September 26th from 7pm to 1am.

**Please note – while the contract signed with our successful Curator will be on a one-year term, we hope this can be renewed for 2021 and 2022 to allow the successful candidate the space and opportunity to see their artistic vision carried out over the course of three years, and to provide stability moving forward; this will both allow our 2020 Curator to learn from our current Curator and to mentor the Curator hired at the end of their term.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In consultation with Nuit Blanche Saskatoon’s Board of Directors, the Curator will develop the artistic program for our 2020 festival including:

  • Setting the artistic vision and preparing our Open Call;

  • Reviewing submissions and selecting projects in collaboration with our Programming Committee;

  • Employing a collaborative approach to the festival, continuing to build and foster Nuit Blanche Saskatoon’s relationships with the City of Saskatoon, Business Improvement Districts, University of Saskatchewan, community organizations, and general public

  • Working with artists, community organizations, and members of the general public to develop projects outside our Open Call

  • Working with classes at the University of Saskatchewan to develop projects for Nuit Blanche Eve at the U of S

  • Providing curatorial and administrative support to our artists throughout the project development process

  • Working with our logistical team to decide on project locations and working with our artists to realize their projects within these constraints

  • In collaboration with each our artists, providing written copy and project statements to the specifications of our Communications Committee
