Gabby Da Silva
Gabby Da Silva is a (dis)abled artist fascinated with the collaboration between digital and physical mediums. Within a conceptual approach, she enjoys creating work that deals with the documentation of events and the questions of how they can be presented. Her work responds to both her surrounding environments and everyday experiences; often accompanied by her own cluttered spoken word.
“too much shaking for dinner”
Having experienced a lack of mobility, this piece is of a sculptural table representing the ritual of family dinners. In the video, the plates transform into repeating clips of my unable self, while a spoken word poem sombrely fills the audio. The poem reads: "Piercing, numbing pains Shaking unconsciously, I cant sit still She calls me to the dinner table though I will not show Stairs are too dangerous and I lack control I crave to return to my seat at the table, But for now I must rest So my body can heal"
