Riversdale Chinatown


Riversdale Chinatown is a community based organization that was founded on an interest of the historic Chinatown that once thrived in Riversdale. Through activations like mahjong pop-ups, ping pong at the Ting, murals, and art installations, Riversdale Chinatown combines research, design, and events to learn about local history and culture.


“Lucky Charms”

We could all use a bit of luck! A common charm, Chinese knots (中國結, Zhōngguó jié) are symbolic decorations rooted in traditional craft that has developed for over two thousand years. Today, they are often found hung on entryways, rear view mirrors, and key chains. Lucky Charms is a participatory project, inviting guests to tie a knot and hang for the night. As the night goes on, a collective display of luck will reveal itself…
