School for the Arts Sculpture Area
Worldcrust is presented by the Sculpture Area in the School for the Arts at the University of Saskatchewan, organized by artist and professor Ella Dawn McGeough and featuring fourth-year sculpture student Amanda May. Together, the project reflects an approach to sculpture grounded in experimentation, material curiosity, reuse, and collective making.
Worldcrust: a Sculpture Garden Workshop
Worldcrust is a participatory assemblage sculpture workshop that asks what new forms can emerge from the stuff of everyday life. Featuring the work of fourth-year sculpture student Amanda May, the project invites visitors to build sculptures from recycled and recovered materials sourced through Saskatoon’s Material Recovery Centre.
Participants can cut, combine, stack, bind, balance, and rework discarded fragments into small assemblage sculptures. As the evening unfolds, individual works will accumulate into a larger, unruly "sculpture garden" shaped by many hands, materials, and decisions.
