ZJJM (Zhao JingLu and Jessica Morgun)
Jessica Morgun and JingLu Zhao have collaborated since 2021, developing their practice through projects and residencies in Saskatoon, including Biofeedback’s Community Project, Art Placement, AKA Artist-Run, and a Saskatchewan Arts Board grant. Their work articulates loss and isolation among artist-parents. Drawing on Eastern concepts of Qi and Western apophatic traditions, they create an East/West visual vocabulary. Through imagery of mist, domestic scenes, and landscape motifs, their collaborative practice explores caregiving, material relationships, and shared artistic inquiry.

Jessica Morgun and JingLu Zhao presents large-scale scroll drawings, intimate works on paper, and sculptural installations that explore caregiving, loss, and cross-cultural dialogue. Bridging Eastern concepts of Qi (vital energy, mist) and Western apophatic thought, the artists transform domestic life—household objects, floor detritus, paper airplanes—into poetic meditations. Created through improvised mark-making across distance, the works function as “messages” between artist-parents navigating different life stages. The installation activates the gallery with suspended scrolls, vinyl floor forms, and participatory workshops, inviting audiences into a shared space of trust, ambiguity, and creative resilience.
