Allyson Glenn
Allyson Glenn is a visual artist based in Saskatoon, Canada working in painting, drawing, photo-collage, and animation. Fascinated by the topics of myth, allegory, and the environment, her artwork investigates complexities between fictional and experienced realities including aspects of the mind, speculative realism, and collective transformation. Allyson Glenn teaches as a Professor for the School for the Arts, University of Saskatchewan, Canada. I Built a Nest, Please Stay
This multi-media piece explores relationships between animals, nature, dreams, and ecological sustainability. In The Poetics of Space, Bachelard describes the “nest” as sanctuary. Drawing this connection to environmental impact, viewers are invited to imagine intimate, delicate, and structures built for protection.
Highlighting fragile ecological networks surrounding Saskatoon, the artwork features a large suspended soft sculpture that will be projection-mapped with animations of whooping cranes, snow geese, migratory birds, and the Krydor Redberry Lake region, a UNESCO site.
By combining moving image, material, and environment, visitors are encouraged to heighten their senses, listen for seasonal bird sounds, consider shifting habitats, and reflect on the ecological “nests” we share and must protect.
