Worldcrust is presented by the Sculpture Area in the School for the Arts at the University of Saskatchewan, organized by artist and professor Ella Dawn McGeough and featuring fourth-year sculpture student Amanda May. Together, the project reflects an approach to sculpture grounded in experimentation, material curiosity, reuse, and collective making.

As a third-year university art student, my practice is inspired by the natural world and the beauty found within it. I create artwork that explores nature through my own perspective, drawing inspiration from organic forms, landscapes, plants, and the environments around me. Through my work, I aim to capture the atmosphere and visual qualities of nature while expressing my personal connection to the world around me. As I continue to develop my artistic practice, I explore different materials and techniques to better communicate these ideas and experiences.

Family Flowers is an interactive experience that viewers can participate in by moving the flowers from the canvases into the vase (tap and hold on the flowers and slide your finger on the phone screen to move them). Each one of these flowers is a favorite that my grandparents and mom had, adding a personal layer of meaning but one that remains ambiguous for the viewers who simply see flowers. As the viewer places the 2D flowers into the 3D vase, they merge my personal memories with a shared experience that sits between real and virtual worlds.

Nora Nguyen is a Vietnamese girl who is passionate about spreading Vietnamese culture through art. She believes that every country has its own unique history and cultural background, and that no country is superior to another.

Bárbara González is an architect and urban designer from Guadalajara, Mexico, currently based in Saskatoon, Canada.

Her work explores grief, identity, and the understanding of her body and her life as fragile, creating spaces of transition where intimate experiences are brought to light, inviting audiences to experience what words are unable to contain.

Vinh Pham recently graduated with a B.Sc. in Applied Computing and enjoys combining technology with playful, imaginative art. Using Hoverlay, Vinh creates AR spaces that explore identity, freedom, healing, and joy through scrapbook textures, watercolor mist, and low-poly objects, while reflecting a curious, silly, and creative personality.

The Digital & Integrated Practice (DIP) area in the School for the Arts at the University of Saskatchewan includes undergraduate and graduate classes in animation (both traditional and digital), video art, sound art, and integrated media which includes 4D, inter/transdisciplinary, mixed media and other non-traditional art forms (performance art, installation, augmented reality, community-engaged practice, as well as others). The area chair is Lisa Birke, Associate Professor of Digital and Extended Media and practicing artist working in the collision of video, performance art, and expanded media practice.

Julie Larson and Anna Setyo are Saskatchewan artists who collaborate to create immersive, interactive giant gardens that invite children and adults alike to play, explore, and contribute. Inspired by nature, growth, and storytelling, they combine Anna's large-scale paper floral installations with Julie's background in interactive design, realism painting, murals, and studio art. Together, they create whimsical environments that encourage visitors to step beyond everyday life, embrace child-like wonder, and discover that imagination can transform both spaces and perspectives.

ZHE the FREE is a multi-disciplinary artist, community builder and explosive performer. Growing up on Treaty 7 Land, she extends her fire from mountains to prairies. Fun, uplifting and powerful. ZHE delivers poetic hip hop and ignites the crowd from the moment she touches the microphone. She creates a celebratory vibe through storytelling, intentional lyricism, freestyle skills and energizing beats. As a hip hop artist, and National Music Centre 1st place winner in the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop track competition, ZHE brings the strength of the feminine alive and loves inspiring others about the power of their voice. Hip hop saved her life, and she aims to inspire others to use creativity as a positive outlet.

Logan McCormick is a filmmaker and writer from Saskatoon.

‘There Is A Place On This Earth Where Your Body Will Be Buried’ is a collection of three short films that explore the marks that we leave on the landscape of one another’s hearts. The footage (shot across Saskatchewan and Alberta) is accompanied by narration that considers what effect our brief lives could possibly have on a world that will persist long after we have left it behind.

Jessica Wu is a visual artist with a background in journalism and documentary studies. She is interested in retracing stories of immigration through cultural, political and historical lenses in an attempt to answer ever-entangled questions of identity and diaspora.

Angela Rose Cabarios/Angie Cabz is an artist who primarily works within time based media, installation, performance and text. Her artistic practice blends her professional experience with theatre and film-production, with her research interests in capitalist realism, identity formation on the internet, and post-cinematic affect. Angie holds a BFA (Honours) from Ontario College of Art and Design, with a minor in Indigenous Visual Culture. Angie’s practice works to gesture towards a contemporary understanding of physical space and virtual time that is both playful, empathetic and critical.

Dominique Ferraton is an artist from Montreal, QC whose practice encompasses sound art, video, photography and drawing. Her work explores our relationship with our environment: the ways in which we occupy and transform the places we inhabit and how we are affected by them. She currently lives in Gravelbourg, SK.

Jérémy Griffaud is an artist who explores the question of the spectator in hybrid realities, through devices that blend the virtual and the real. Using digitized watercolors, video game engines, virtual reality headsets and monumental projections, he creates immersive, interactive environments. In his installations Enlarge Yourself and The Garden, for example, visitors become performers, and the work's activation depends on their involvement. In The Origin of Things, visitors find themselves immersed in a psychedelic science-fiction universe that questions Man's relationship with Nature.

Julianna Phillips is an artist entering the final year of her BFA program at the U of S. She works in multimedia art and animation, focusing on fantasy, the subconscious, narrative, and characters.

In this immersive installation, a vintage player piano mechanism is reimagined as a sensory, interactive playground. Instead of hearing traditional notes, viewers are invited to step up and actively pump the piano’s pedals, bringing the sculpture to life. Pushing the pedals triggers vibrant sequences of light that dance across the space, turning a silent musical roll into a mesmerizing visual performance. Simultaneously, a custom speaker system amplifies the intricate, rhythmic clicks, whirs, and hums of the internal parts working together. It is a stunning, tactile rebirth of a classic instrument that invites you to step inside and become the performer.

Ivana Beer is Saskatchewan's elite clown diva. Don't be fooled by her good looks though because she is a jack of ALL trades. You never really know what you're going to get with her but she'll guarantee it will be funny and shocking in the best way possible. She has a love for bringing creativity to people in ways you've never seen before and she'll never leave you unsatisfied but you'll definitely be wanting more!

Eli Hartman is a multidisciplinary performing artist that has been producing theatre and interactive performance art in the prairies for 13 years. Having been leadership for the FLoYD Festival, Chaos Encouraged Productions, the Green Beans Drag show, and performing as drag king Queer'd Al, they love pushing the audience's envelope. Their style is based in experimental exploration of connection and interactive displays that aim to change the audience's perspective on what counts as "art".

Peace Akintade-Oluwagbeye, Saskatchewan 11th Poet Laureate, is an African-Canadian Interdisciplinary Poet, Workshop Facilitator, Chorus-Poem Playwright residing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Organically from Yorubaland Nigeria, Peace explores the intersectionality of the artist community from an explorer's perspective, dipping her honey-stained fingers into poetry, playwriting, intimacy direction, textile creation, and performance art. Her work knits together folklore, abstract riddles, and Òwé Yorùbá elements of poetry to create a collective one-self. Author of Earth Skin, Equanimity in Sonder, Equanimity in Conversation and The Taste of Sonder. Her newest manuscript, “The Goat’s Tongue,” won the Metatron International Poetry Prize and will be released September 2026.
